The Ghost Seat · Beginner Training Session
A full beginner training booklet for Hong Kong Mahjong, built entirely from the documented hauntings already living on this site — Nathan Road, 1953, and Tai Po, 1989. No invented characters. Just the case files, put to work as teaching tools.
Built From The Record
Every scene in this booklet is drawn straight from the two case files already documented on Four Played As Six — the 1953 haunting at 452 Nathan Road and the 1989 Tai Po hell-money case. There's no new cast of characters here, no invented hostess or wandering spirit. The strangers, the bolted doors, the joss paper, the fourth face at the table — all of it is already true, or as true as a decades-old retelling gets. This booklet just puts it to work teaching the game.
Two real Hong Kong ghost stories, six real Hong Kong Mahjong lessons, and nothing borrowed from anywhere else to make it feel haunted.
What's Inside · 6 Lessons, 6 Practice Cards
Recognizing the sets, drawing and discarding, answering a claim, reading your waits, handling a kong, checking the final score — each lesson is built around a beat from the Nathan Road or Tai Po case files, worked through with real tiles in a real session. This page is the introduction; the booklet itself stays in reserve for training.
Six lessons, six practice cards, a teacher's key, and a facilitator's guide — taught in person, by request.
Who It's For
About 75–90 minutes straight through, or three relaxed sessions — a first meeting to recognize the sets and build a hand, a second for claims and waits, a third for kongs, scoring, and table play. Bring a real tile set; the session does the rest.
Sources and Scope
The case-file framing comes straight from Four Played As Six. The mahjong rules taught in session — claim priority, wait shapes, kong procedure, faan minimums — are checked against independent rules references.
This training isn't a download — it's taught in person. Convention bookings, fandom meetups, and private sessions all start with a message.
